Recently uprooted from her Jackson Hole, WY stage, Margo Valiante plans to open up shop down in Austin, TX. Although her new album, New Blue (2008), has been successful in her home state, she felt it was time to explore a completely new approach. Over the last three years, Margo has shared stages with such popular acts like Yonder Mountain String Band, Ari Hest, Tift Merrit, James McMurtry, The Subdudes and many others. She has sustained a successful business playing solo for private events at hotels and parties, however, it is her former band of three years, Boondocks, who showed Margo the joy of playing to the public and collaborating with others.
In April, 2008, with a vague but positive sense about what Austin has to offer, she came down for a month to try out the open mic circuit, with positive results. This initiated an official move to Austin in September, and Margo is currently in the process of forming a new band for a new audience that has yet to hear her music. Margo's voice and writing style have often been likened to that of Alison Krauss, Patty Griffin and Norah Jones, with a little Bonnie Raitt thrown in. Her songs from New Blue received Honorable Mention at The Telluride Troubadour Competition in 2007 and are available online at CDbaby.com or itunes.
